Synopsis
The members of the Iranian women’s international football (soccer) lack the opportunity to play against other international teams. Marlene, the left back of a German soccer club travels to Tehran to meet Niloofar, a member of the Iranian women’s team who explains that they risk being reported to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard if they are caught playing without a headscarf. They both share headstrong nature, love for the sport and a fierce determination to go ahead with the game despite Iranian government’s objection. In 2006 Marlene manages to obtain visas for her team who travel to Tehran to take part in what promises to be the game of a lifetime. Football Under Cover gives new meaning to the phrase “girl power.”
