Esmaeel Monsef, born in 1976, is a graduate of the Behandish Cinema School of Tehran and founding member of the Association of Independent Iranian Filmmakers. He has directed three short films and edited over 40 shorts, features and documentaries. His directing credits include TEARS (2015), UNDER THE COLOURS (2012), which screened in competition at Clermont Ferrand, and OYAN (2010), which premiered at Thessaloniki. As an editor, he completed the award-winning A MINOR LEAP DOWN (Hamed Rajabi, Berlinale panorama, 2015).
